On Wednesday, July 12, I gave a talk entitled, Has Neoliberalism Gone Too Far? And if so, where do we go from here? as part of a panel discussion at the Bank of England on the theme of “The Big Political Economy Questions of the Next Five Years.”

On March 21, 2017, I took part in a conference celebrating the 60th anniversary of the European Union hosted by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies. 

On March 8, I will take part in a conference-debate on the ”European Varieties of Capitalism in the Shadow of the Eurozone Crisis” at ULB.

On Wednesday, November 30, I took part in a panel discussion at Harvard’s Center for European Studies to discuss The Search for Europe: Contrasting Approaches. Then on Thursday, December 1, I gave a talk at the Boston Council on Foreign Relations on “The European Union’s Many Crises: What Future for Europe?”

On Monday, November 14, I took part in the Summit on the Future of Europe 2016: Europe and the Forces of Destruction at Harvard University. Launched in 2014, this annual conference at Harvard engages eminent scholars and public leaders in a debate on the challenges facing Europe.

On Tuesday, November 15, I gave the European Horizons Lecture at the University of Michigan. The lecture was organized by the Weiser Center for Emerging Democracies.

I was in Bratislava, Slovakia from October 27-30 to participate in the Tatra Summit 2016. The theme of the conference was the current crises facing the European Union.

Last week, I participated in a conference at the Fletcher School at Tufts University on Greece and the Eurozone entitled “Greece’s Turn? A Litmus Test for Europe.”

On Friday, October 7, the Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos in Lisbon, Portugal, hosted a conference—What Democracy?—to explore the lexicon of democracy.

I was in Mannheim on June 6 to give a talk entitled: "Europe’s Crisis of Legitimacy: Governing by Rules and Ruling by Numbers in the Eurozone" at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES).

On May 20 I was in Paris to give a talk in French on: “Rethinking the future of the European Union: Differentiated integration with more of Europe and more of the Member-States?”

On May 19, I was in Rome to participate on a panel entitled: German Dominance of the Eurozone? as part of the conference: Germany and Italy in the European Union: Divergence or Convergence?, organized by the Luiss School of Government and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.

Last week I travelled to London to deliver the Kleh Family Foundation Dtinguished Lecture on “The Eurozone Crisis: A Problem of Economics or Politics.” Over 100 people attended the sold-out event at the Boston University London Center in South Kensington.

I spoke recently at State of Play 2015, a daylong conference highlighting the state of social policy in the European Union held on Sept. 23 at the headquarters of the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels, Belgium.

On October 14, I travelled to the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) headquarters in Santiago, Chile, to give a presentation on the “Resilience of neoliberal ideas in Europe and beyond: its causes and its effects on the labor market and the welfare state.”

Although the reception has already taken place, my photo exhibition remains open for viewing 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, at the Art Gallery of Harvard’s Center for European Studies.

In a recent discussion on my book, Democracy in Europe: The EU and National Polities, I offered an explanation of the European Union's oft-cited "democratic deficit."
